We know the feeling – being given something so incredible and beautiful that you never want to take it off. Most women feel that way about their engagement ring and wedding band. We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but there are a few times when you really should:
- Working Out: This may seem obviously but you don’t want to wear your fine jewelry when you’re lifting weights or getting really sweaty. It will not only dirty your rings and make them less sparkly but weights and workout equipment can damage and bend the metals.
- During Your “Getting Ready” Routine: Showering, putting on lotions and using hair products are all things that can very quickly make your glittering jewelry look dull and desperate for a deep clean.
- Sleeping: This is the hard one. You hear people say all the time, “I never take my rings off!” The truth is sleeping in your jewelry is one of the worst things you can do for it. Resting your head on your engagement ring is not too far from resting a bowling ball on your ring – and you’d NEVER do that! To keep your rings clean and structurally sound, bedtime is the best time to take your rings off.
- Cooking & Cleaning: Cleaning supplies and bacteria from cooking are two things you never want near (or in!) your jewelry.
Taking the care and awareness to keep your fine jewelry in pristine shape is the best way to keep your jewelry stunning and your investment safe. Trust us!
