Shah & Shah Distinctive dates to the days of Prohibition, a time when speakeasies and social clubs created covert traditions behind closed doors.
It’s in 1929 when Shah & Shah Distinctive, a Washington, DC atelier dedicated to quality gems and custom-made jewelry collections, first opens its doors. The shop passes through four sets of familial hands, from father to son, son to grandson. In 2013, great-grandson Colin Shah takes over the family business.
Knock On Its Door
Nearly a century after its opening, the Shah & Shah Distinctive tradition endures. Today, our speakeasy-style showroom opens to those who know to knock on its door—with modern, bespoke jewelry collections, sourced in-house.
But while forged over four generations, Shah & Shah Distinctive collections are decidedly untraditional. Our designs are for the wearer who appreciates craft, but bucks convention; who values style, but seeks singularity; who admires legacy, but sets their own.
